Paris in Spring: 5 Reasons to Restart Your Rental Search in March
March traditionally marks the start of the busiest period on the Paris rental market. If you're searching for a flat, here's why you need to act now.

After the winter lull, the Paris rental market wakes up in March. New listings flow in, landlords who waited out the winter before letting their properties put them on the market, and second-quarter job mobility generates a significant flow of activity.
But this awakening applies to your competitors too. Here are 5 concrete reasons to act now.
Reason 1: The flow of listings peaks in March-April
On the main Paris rental portals, the volume of new listings in March is on average 40% higher than in January. Landlords who froze their property over winter put it back on the market. Spring relocations free up flats. This is mechanically the period with the most choice.
Reason 2: Leases often end on 31 March or 30 April
Many tenants give notice in January-February to move out at the end of March or April. These flats come onto the market now. Those who start looking in March get access to the listings before spring competition really intensifies (which peaks in May-June).
Reason 3: You can view properties in good conditions
In March-April, the days get longer. You can assess a flat's real natural light — something you can't do at a 6pm viewing in December. Natural light is one of the top criteria for Paris tenants, and it can only be judged in daylight.
Reason 4: Landlords are more available and responsive
The festive season is long gone, and summer hasn't arrived yet. Landlords and letting managers are in full swing. Response times are shorter, viewings are organised more quickly. This is the smoothest period to make progress.
Reason 5: You have time to choose well
If you're targeting a move-in for May or June, a search started in March gives you 8 to 10 weeks to find, sign and organise your move without stress. Waiting until April or May means competing with every candidate on the same timeline as you — and having to decide fast.
✅ The APPARTE tip: Even if your budget or target area is limited, start monitoring now. A property that comes onto the market in March in your target zone can disappear within 48 hours if the market is tight.
